human vs animal

not sure if i've said this before but

if we deem ourselves as above the animals
why do we constantly make comparison to them?
brave as a lion
agile as a monkey
big as an elephant
and the list goes on...
or even use them as tokens of power and status
a tiger's tooth
bear's skin.

is our so called 'dominance' just a facade
when deep within we fear them
hence these concrete walls and steel scaffolds
keepin them out of sight and hopefully thoughts altogether.

Still, this maybe a tad extreme
we maybe doing this out of respect
and admiration for their physique
and abilities.

If u truly think so,
look deeper within
Do your heart skip a sec faster
when u see just a crow flying towards you
or a dog strolling nearby even if its leashed.

If we really dont think ourselves as beneath them,
why the glory in bull fights?
why label those who fell beasts from lions to elephants as heroes?

respect for them?
yes that we truly have
but borne more out of fear than anything else.

some may truly love animals but they seem them more of equals
even so, a fear always linger
buried deep by their love now.
for Man fear the unknown.
that's a fact that will never change
be it the past, present or future. (now tis an absolute stand but this ain't GP!)
